Sharon Higgins, the mother of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant Maura, has spoken out against claims concerning her daughter’s frank discussions about her sex life. On Lorraine Kelly’s ITV morning show on Tuesday, December 3, Sharon addressed comments made by Maura suggesting she shares intimate details with her mum.

Lorraine probed Sharon on the topic after Maura had hinted at such candid conversations on ‘I’m A Celeb,’ asking, “The only thing I was a bit ‘ohh’ like this, is when she said she talks to you about all aspects of her sex life. Is that true? Does she tell you absolutely everything?”

In response, Sharon dispelled the notion, asserting: “That was taken out of context a little bit.”

Sharon elaborated with humour, noting: “Normally, if she’s in a relationship, I would just ask her, like ‘How is everything in the relationship? ‘ But Maura being Maura, will just start elaborating, and I would say, ‘Enough too much information, I don’t need to know’,” prompting laughter, reports the Express.

She continued, stressing her preference to remain uninformed about the more intimate aspects of Maura’s experiences. To which Lorraine expressed solidarity: “I’m with you, Sharon! I wouldn’t want to know that.”

Speculation surrounding Maura’s personal life also led Lorraine to question Sharon about rumours linking her daughter romantically to both Strictly and TOWIE personality Pete Wicks.

Shedding light on Maura’s actual relationship with Pete, Sharon revealed that her daughter affirmed they have been “great friends” for some time.

During Monday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Maura opened up about her dynamic with Pete, telling fellow contestant GK Barry:.

“You know more than me! No, I’m single. People can date and not be in a relationship and take things slow.”

She elaborated on her decision to keep matters private, stating: “What’s the point in getting them involved too soon, when you just don’t know where it’s gonna go, you know? “.

In a separate chat on Lorraine, Sharon expressed an “unfortunate” drawback, lamenting that she cannot support her daughter in public votes due to voting restrictions in the Republic of Ireland:.

“It puts her on the backfoot that way because she has a lot of support here.”

Lorraine is on ITV1 weekdays at 9am and on ITVX
