Monty Don, the beloved presenter of Gardeners’ World, has updated his fans on his health status after a sudden hospitalisation. The 69-year-old was forced to cancel several shows around the country due to an undisclosed health issue that landed him in A&E.

Monty took to Instagram to share a video message with his 1.3 million followers, revealing he had been hooked up to drips during his hospital stay. He didn’t provide further details about his condition but referred to it as an ‘unexpected drama’.

“Tonight I am in Edinburgh at the Usher Hall for the last night of this tour. Last week’s hiccup was a bit of unexpected drama but it has been fun and all the audiences have been fantastic,” he said in his Instagram post.

Monty had previously apologised to fans for the cancelled shows, saying: “I’m so sorry to have disappointed all those people who are going to come and see me in Exeter and Truro and Bath and Nottingham. But on Friday afternoon, I was rushed to A&E.”

“I was kept in the hospital, uh, over Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I had some drips and all the rest of it. But I came home last night. I’m feeling much better. I’m going to spend the next few days quietly recuperating here at home and hopefully by the weekend, I’ll be back to for fitness”, reports Devon Live.

Fans have expressed their worry about their beloved presenter pushing too hard after his return to the spotlight. Sharon commented: “Really enjoyed your show in Harrogate last night and so relieved to see you looking fit and well. Working out my own jobs for the weekend. Trip to the pub after looking at the garden. Massively productive.”

While another fan advised: “Travelling takes it out of you! Read, relax and breath as much as you can.” PG Tips chimed in with a note of caution saying: “Hope you’re feeling better don’t over do it.” And Veg queen stressed the need for rest: “U must try to rest Monty please? “.
