An Edinburgh woman was rushed to hospital after a brick was allegedly thrown through a bus window.
Passengers were left terrified after the bus window was smashed on Niddrie Mains Road at around 9.15pm on December 2. Locals reported hearing a bang as glass was strewn across the number 30.
Vicky Skene, 43, described the scenes as ‘terrible’ and said the injured woman was left confused after the window next to her shattered.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Vicky said: “I grew up in Niddrie and I would never dream of things like this happening, it’s terrible.
“I can still hear the bang now. I got on the same bus stop as her and we sat in different seats. I was looking at my phone and then this almighty bang happened and glass shot over me. The lady stood up so confused.
“I ran to see if I could see them but they ran towards the Hays as usual. Glass went on my face and I had to wash them with water after it happened. I really hope the woman’s okay. It’s so messed up.”
Pictures show glass spread across the seats onboard the bus after the rock ploughed through the window.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.25pm on Monday, 2 December, 2024, we received a report of damage caused to a bus in the Niddrie Mains Road area of Edinburgh.
“Officers attended and a woman was later taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing.”
