Strictly Come Dancing’s Pete Wicks and Chris McCausland have issued a brutal response to a complaint made about a comment Chris said during the show.

Chris joined his Strictly co-star for an episode of Pete‘s Staying Relevant podcast, as the pair spoke about everything from Strictly Come Dancing to Chris’ AI phone.

Last month, Chris spoke to Claudia Winkleman about making it through to the show’s musical-themed quarter-final. Although his response was not well taken by the public, as he said musicals are “absolutely pointless”.

This honest comment came back to haunt him as Pete revealed on the podcast that his own management had received a complaint about Chris’s remark, reports the Lancs Live.

Pete recalled: “Now and then, you get people that aren’t happy and someone has actually emailed in to my management, unhappy with you and I, and I’m not even joking.”

He went on to read the email: “Hi, Pete. I really, really love musical theatre and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t like it, so how dare you diss musicals on the Strictly results show by supporting the awful Chris McCausland and his comments.

“‘They are not pointless; they are a beautiful art form and musical theatre performers work very hard for very little reward. The musical theatre community will be very offended by Chris and Pete’s comments, as am I. Chris and Pete should leave. Thanks’.”

Although Pete did confirm he does, actually enjoy musical’s saying they’re “great”, as he went onto explain to Chris that they’d basically “p****d off” the musical theatre community.

Continuing he said: “Anyone that works in musicals or for musical theatre, I think you’re wonderful and you’re doing such a great job. It’s 01, which is the voting number for me on Saturday.”

Whilst Chris offered a simple response saying: “I would like to say that if you aren’t allowed to moan about things, whether you believed them or not, then there’d be no such thing as comedy, so get a life.”
