Ayr’s sporting clubs are joining forces again this year for a festive family event in aid of good causes.

Bosses at Ayr Rugby Club, Ayr United and Ayr Cricket Club are laying on the Santa Dash, enabling participants to raise cash for local charities, organisations and groups.

Individuals, youth sports teams, community groups and local charities are all invited to take part in the 5k dash which starts at Ayr beachpark and ends at Millbrae, the home of Ayr Rugby Club.

Ayr RFC chairman, Brian Williamson, is the driving force behind the event and said: “The Ayr Santa Dash is all about community, it is about our town’s sporting clubs putting on an event for the whole town and encouraging all local sporting groups, community organisations and charities to use the platform to raise money.”

All those taking part should arrive at the beach for 11am on Sunday, December 15 to enjoy the atmosphere with Christmas music and special guests. Bullish Coffee will be on-site offering coffee, hot chocolate and snacks before the starting gun is fired.

Participants can walk, jog or run the 5k to Millbrae, with the event officially starting at 12 noon.

Entry is adults £5, children £3 (Entry includes Santa Hat) and all monies made from the entry fees will be distributed to the headline charities The Ayrshire Hospice, Ayrshire Cancer Support and Harbour Ayrshire.

You can set up an online page such as www.justgiving.com or www.gofundme.com (others are available) or use an old fashioned sponsorship form.
