PRINCETON, W.Va. -WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital is pitching-in to help the area, pets as well.
Throughout December the hospital’s nurse residency program is focusing on community health.
The project has launched a People and Pet Food Drive in connection with the Bluefield Union Misson and the Mercer County Animal Shelter.
While the group is always happy to give back, they believe this effort can help the patient’s overall health as well.
“The research shows that pets are very important in providing comfort, some provide assistance, they’re important parts of our lives, and when people can’t take care of their pets for whatever reason, it is a great source of stress that can often complicate other health issues,” said Cassandra Stalzer, WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital Director of Public Relations and Marketing.
If you are interested in donating, there are boxes located at both entrances of the WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital, the Bluefield ER and the Behavior Health Pavilion in Bluefield until December 18.
