A man has been left in a “serious” condition in hospital following a hit and run in a Scots street last night.

The incident occurred on Winifred Street, at its junction with Hendry Road, in Kirkcaldy at around 5.50pm when a small red car struck a male pedestrian. The vehicle left the scene prior to police arriving, continuing along Winifred Street as enquiries remain ongoing to trace the driver.

The 54-year-old pedestrian was rushed to Victoria Hospital where his injuries have been described as serious by medical staff.

CCTV footage is being checked by officers to find more information on the red car.

Sergeant Tom Aitken from Police Scotland said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information which could assist to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was in this area around the time and who may have dash cam footage or private CCTV that may help to get in touch.”
