Mayor Adams will meet with President-elect Trump’s controversial new border czar, Tom Homan, next week, the mayor said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday morning.

The mayor said on the show he was looking forward to strategizing with the border czar on how New York City and the fderal governments could work together to deport migrants with violent rap sheets.

“I want to hear the actual plan, how we’re going to actually operationalize this plan,” Adams said, in response to a question about Trump’s mass deportations.

The meeting is set for Thursday, Dec. 12, the mayor said.

Adams said Tuesday he wanted to meet with Homan, telling reporters he would be “working,” not “warring,” with the incoming administration.

Speaking on NewsNation, in response to the mayor, Homan said, “I certainly will meet with him. I’m looking for partnerships. I’m not looking for enemies.”

Adams said he wants to work with ICE to deport migrants who have committed violent crimes.

“We’re not talking about those who steal an apple,” Adams said. “We’re talking about those who are shooting at police officers, raping individuals, and I would like to hear the border czar’s plan on addressing that.”

In the wake of Trump’s victory, the mayor has emphasized finding “common ground” with the incoming Trump administration. This week, that has meant praising Fox News and Elon Musk — who under Trump is expected to lead the planned Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE — and challenging the left to “cancel” Adams over his stance on walking back aspects of New York’s sanctuary city status.

Far-right activists like Charlie Kirk and even Musk himself have promoted Adams’ recent comments on social media.

During the TV appearance, Adams also repeated a claim that he was indicted because he criticized President Biden’s immigration policies.

“What I’m going through right now, no Americans should go through that,” Adams said. “And not only did I state that we politicize our DOJ, but also President Biden stated that. President Trump stated that.”
