WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Months after two assassination attempts on targeting president-elect Donald Trump, the Acting Director of the Secret Service says his agency has implemented a number of reforms aimed at preventing a repeat of what he calls the failure of July 13th.

Acting U.S. Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe told members of the House Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald Trump that he has already taken steps to reform the agency charged with protecting the President.

“We’re trying to get people from the military, from law enforcement, with specialized skills, special operations experience and bringing them in and then having them join our ranks of our special operations division. We’re basically taking a multi-faceted approach to build our ranks.”

Rowe told lawmakers he’s already responded to the many mistakes involving the Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13th, where an assassin’s bullet narrowly missed killing Donald Trump.

“Our counter snipers and local snipers are actually co-located. So that’s to cut down on that to make sure that they are standing next to each other so that there is clarity of communication between them. And then also, if exchanging radios and making sure that we have their radio and can hear what they say and clear communications.”

On September 15, Dylan Wesley Routh hid in the shrubberies at the Trump International Golf Club near Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate and pointed a gun at the president-elect.

One of president-elect Donald Trump’s first orders of business is choosing a new Secret Service Director. Whoever that is must demonstrate that they’re committed to reforming the agency, improving morale and winning Senate approval.
