Three teens, two of them minors, have been arrested for fatally shooting a man as he sat in his car in Newark, authorities said Thursday.
The three are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery and weapons offenses, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
Wed Thalerand, 18, was sitting in his vehicle in Newark’s Weequahic section when he was shot and killed around 9 p.m. Sunday, the Ledger reported. The Elizabeth, N.J., resident was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Authorities said Thursday they had arrested 18-year-old Zaire Kelly of Newark, along with the two juveniles, whose names were not released.
Kelly faces a potential 30 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors told Patch, while the minors could spend 20 years behind bars.
Police did not divulge a motive for the shooting.
