A man filmed himself taking his horse through a McDonald’s Drive Thru for breakfast, and the video of their venture has quickly gone viral. Captured in a TikTok clip, the Arabian horse, Iggy, can be seen trotting up to the intercom as its rider places an order for a Sausage and Egg McMuffin, along with some apple slices for Iggy.
Staff members were tickled pink at the sight of the equestrian visitor and, after assuring them that “He’s friendly, honestly, else I wouldn’t have brought him here.”
Both Iggy and his rider moved on to the collection window to retrieve their order, leaving staff and customers in stitches. Contrary to what the horse rider thought would happen, the pair were handed their food, prompting Iggy to gallop on into the car park.
“I didn’t think they’d serve us, but they did – success!” hailed the rider afterwards. The video quickly went viral, amassing more than two million views, with scores of TikTok users reacting with joy.
“Didn’t know they’d let horses through the drive thru, that’s awesome,” declared one person. A second added: “Horses were around before cars, they have priority, you’d make my day if I’d seen this!”
A third praised: “I was so happy that the horse was getting some apple slices and how excited he must have been waiting for them.” Whilst a fourth wrote: “Brilliant. I rode my horse to the pub beer garden once, the landlord was brilliant about it. Came outside to take our drinks order and a bucket of water.”
Elsewhere, however, another person shared a similar, yet unsuccessful experience. “When I done this they wouldn’t serve me,” they said. Iggy’s owner jokingly responded: “I did expect them to turn me away. I would have ordered a click and collect then instead!”
It appears the pair got lucky – for McDonald’s drive-thru policy states on its website: “McDonald’s drive thru is for people in motor vehicles only – bicycles are not permitted on our drive thru due to the health and safety policies we have in place.”
However, there is no mention of the use of a horse within the policy.
