Santa was the star guest as Tannochside Primary hosted its first Christmas fayre in five years with pupils, families and staff getting firmly into the festive spirit.

The school’s parent council staged the event for the first time since the Covid pandemic and raised £1300 which will go towards supporting youngsters at the school throughout the year.

Father Christmas and Elfie wowed the youngest visitors and a range of stall holders made it a busy day for the whole community, with hundreds of local residents turning out in numbers to support the event as it made a “spectacular return”.

Tannochside parent council chair Hazel Brynes said: “As a team we really wanted to bring back the Christmas fayre to the school and we are thrilled with its success.

“We raised a fantastic amount to support the school and facilitated a day where the community could really come together, and we’d like to thank all the businesses who helped us bring it to fruition.”

The fayre was supported by donations of prizes and food by firms including Tunnocks, Tesco, The Hub, Smiths, Scotmid, Hazel’s Butterfly Bakery, Melt Away with Maryanne (Scentsy), Slater’s Menswear, Farmfoods and Warburtons.
