Owners of St Johnstone FC hope Taylor Swift will inspire them to league success.

The brand new Saints kit featured a shirt designed by Glencarse-based fashion company Little Lies – whose dress was sported by Taylor in New York earlier this year

Photos of the singer in the dress went global and now designer Jade Robertson has created a new strip that doffs its cap to the one that caught Taylor’s eye.

Jade, who owns Little Lies, comes from a Saints-mad family and her dad, Billy Beatson, is a former player for the club.

She said: “Taylor Swift wore our dress and it went completely viral with media outlets across the world. It was not just local or national, but worldwide. We sold a huge amount of the dress at the time and it is continuing to sell well.”

She was contacted by Saints’ American owner Adam Webb, who signed her up for the club’s third strip.

Sales will help local charities Fans Supporting Foodbanks, Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance and Saints in the Community.

Francis Smith, CEO of St Johnstone FC, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Little Lies to launch our new third kit. We are continuing to drive our One Club, One City, One Community message and joining forces with this successful local business is important to us.

“We want to support local and, as always, support good causes. That is exactly what we are doing with this kit and we hope it can be shared as far and as wide as possible.

“The more we manage to sell, the more we can help the charities involved so a massive thank you to everyone who purchases the kit.”

All eyes were on Taylor Swift in January this year when she donned the £58 olive-green mini dress in Brooklyn, New York, while out for dinner with the actors Blake Lively and Zoë Kravitz at the pizzeria Lucali.

The Sweet Jane dress is still on sale and describe as a “lustrous olive crushed velvet – our everyday dress with scoop ballet neckline and fit and flare shape Sweet Jane is as comfortable as it is flattering.”

The new strip features green accents for the first time.
