A man revealed why he decided to sell his girlfriend’s Taylor Swift concert tickets.

The pop star recently concluded her extensive Eras tour in Vancouver, Canada, leaving fans with unforgettable memories. However, one woman was left devastated when she missed out on seeing her favourite singer live because her boyfriend sold their tickets. He defended his actions, stating that he had a valid reason for selling the two tickets, which cost him $800 (£442).

He claimed he discovered a shocking secret about his girlfriend that made him feel so betrayed that he couldn’t bear the thought of attending the concert with her. In a Reddit post, the man explained his girlfriend is a huge Taylor Swift fan and he knew that going to the concert would mean everything to her.

So, when he had some spare cash, he surprised her with tickets. But, he later found out that his girlfriend had been sending flirtatious messages to a work colleague for several months.

When he confronted her, she confessed to having an emotional affair and admitted they had kissed multiple times.

He penned: “Last week, I discovered she’d been secretly meeting up with her ‘work friend’ for months. I found out because she accidentally left her Instagram DMs open on my laptop (she’d been using it to print something), and I saw weeks of flirty messages and plans to meet up. When I confronted her, she tried to deny it at first but eventually admitted they’d kissed several times and had been having an emotional affair.

“I was devastated. These tickets were meant to be a special experience for us, and I couldn’t stomach the thought of taking her after this betrayal. Rather than let them go to waste, I decided to sell them. Given how insane the Taylor Swift ticket market was, I managed to sell them for $2,400 (£1,330) – triple what I paid.”

The man recounted how his girlfriend “completely lost it” when she learned he had sold the tickets, accusing him of “ruining her dream” and arguing the tickets were a “gift” so they should be hers by right. Nonetheless, he feels justified in doing whatever he pleases with the tickets he purchased, particularly in light of her infidelity.

Commentary on the situation has seen a majority siding with the man, pointing out her affair likely wasn’t just emotional given the kisses shared. Some, however, suggested he should have offered her the chance to buy the tickets before selling them online, allowing her the opportunity to still enjoy the concert without him.

One commenter argued: “It wasn’t an emotional affair if they were kissing. It was an actual affair. If you still took her to a concert after she had an affair with someone else, THAT would be weird. You should move on and let her have her new relationship out in the open and let THAT person buy her Swift tickets.”

Another user chimed in: “The tickets were a gift meant for a special experience together, and her betrayal completely changed that. You had every right to sell them since you paid for them, and she broke your trust. It’s understandable that she’s upset, but her actions led to this situation.”
