Dumfries Harriers and husband and wife duo, Gordon Paterson and Carol Elliot left Storm Darragh behind on Saturday for sunnier climes, to take part in the Font Vella Lanzarote Half Marathon.
Carol had a fantastic race, coming in at 1.58.17, securing a remarkable third place out of 103 runners in her age category.
She said: “I’m over the moon with that time, so happy my training has paid off. I never expected to finish third in such a strong field, especially running in the heat.”
Gordon, who was also celebrating his 75th birthday, had a really comfortable race, taking in the sights and finishing with a time of 2.32.02.
The Harriers meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm at the David Keswick Centre, with three and six-mile routes available.
