Footballer Greg Taylor brought a smile to a group of “Celtic-daft” hospice patients after organising a heartwarming day at Parkhead.

Patients receiving end-of-life care, along with their families, enjoyed an “unforgettable” behind-the-scenes tour of Celtic Park. The visit included a walk through the players’ tunnel, a tour of the trophy room, and a chance to stand in the home team’s dressing room, immersing them in the history and spirit of the club.

Two standout participants, Ester Carmichael, 67, and Danny Condon, 69, stole the spotlight as they sang Gerry and the Pacemakers’ iconic hit You’ll Never Walk Alone while exploring the stadium, reports Glasgow Live. Reflecting on the day, Danny said, “I had a fantastic day out and appreciate everyone’s care and help to make the trip possible. Thanks to Greg, the Ardgowan Hospice team, and everyone else involved! I look forward to our next trip.”

A spokesperson for Ardgowan Hospice, based in Greenock, shared the excitement felt by the group: “Our patients, some of whom are lifelong Celtic supporters, were thrilled to step into this legendary venue. From the moment they arrived, they were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The Celtic Park team made sure everyone felt welcome, celebrating the passion and connection that football inspires.”

The tour featured several memorable moments. “Walking through the players’ tunnel, where countless legends have stepped onto the pitch, was an emotional highlight,” the spokesperson said. “Exploring the trophy room, with its display of Celtic’s remarkable achievements, including the European Cup, brought back fond memories and sparked lively discussions among the group. For many, standing in the dressing room where their heroes prepare for matches was deeply moving.”

They added, “A huge thank you goes to Greg Taylor, our patron at Ardgowan Hospice, who went above and beyond to make this day so special. Greg not only organised the tour but also arranged a special video to welcome the patients, ensuring the day was one they’ll treasure forever.”
