MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. -Mercer County residents will have a place to go next week to talk to a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) representative on receiving reimbursements for damage caused by Hurricane Helene.
Keith Gunnoe, Emergency Services Director for Mercer County, said FEMA will have a Disaster Recovery office at Maple View Church of Christ opening Monday at 10 a.m. That will be the only office open at this time and Gunnoe said these offices typically are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and he will share more details when he receives the information.
The street address of the church is 194 Robins Rest Rd., which is beside Mercer Mall.
Residents can bring various documents related to expenses created by damage from the hurricane and they will be guided through the application process.
The county was designated a federal disaster area by Pres. Joe Biden on Monday, which allows FEMA to set up offices here.
If you cannot make it to the location FEMA Gunnoe says you can also apply for disaster aid online at disasterassistance.gov. You can also download the FEMA app on your phone or call 800-621-3362.
