Selling on Vinted can prove to be a good way to make extra cash, whether you’re a professional or just looking to get rid of unwanted items.
However, it can sometimes feel like a struggle, with buyers bombarding you with questions or trying to negotiate lower prices.
Questions like ‘Do you think this would fit a size 16?’ or ‘Would you take £5?’ for an item priced at £20 can be irritating, but part of the experience. And if the item eventually sells for a decent price then the effort is worth it.
Vinted expert @joelvalmedia has advised sellers to “ignore” a certain type of message, as it often means a lot of effort for sellers, followed by being ghosted.
Joel shared his experience of being asked for specific measurements of a Carhartt jacket – pit to pit, cuff to cuff, and back length. Despite being polite and responding, he was left feeling regretful.
He cautioned other sellers that he “found out the hard way” to probably ignore such messages after going to great lengths to provide the requested measurements, only to be ignored by the potential buyer.
“Like not even a response, nothing back – seen. Perfect”, Joel said in frustration, vowing he would “block that guy actually”, as he didn’t want him wasting any more time in the future.
Commenters on the post shared their annoyance as well, with one wondering, “Why do people do this for real?”
Yet, not everyone took Joel’s side. A user joked: “Vinted sellers when they have to do their work,” implying that some are hoping for profits with little effort.
Another agreed, posting: “Resellers angry that they actually have to research the product they’re selling.”
The confusion around being left ‘on read’ without a reply also raised eyebrows. One person questioned: “Why do people just leave you on seen?” while a TikToker posited it might be “probably because they don’t want it” once more information comes to light.
