AUSTIN, Texas — A Bastrop man wanted for numerous sex crimes against children has been captured.
The U.S. Marshals say 60-year-old Henry Torres is now in jail after being captured by authorities in Panama.
In October 2023, Torres was indicted on 11 counts that included continuous child sex abuse, indecency with a child and aggravated sexual assault of a child. In June, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office requested help finding Torres.
Officials in Panama told the U.S. Marshals that Torres had been captured on Nov. 12. The next day, the Travis County District Attorney’s Office filed a provisional arrest warrant for Torres.
Panamanian officials handed Torres over for extradition on Dec. 11 and immediately booked him into Travis County Jail when he arrived in Austin.
Torres had his bond set at $100,000 for felony continuous sex abuse of a child under 14 years old.
