PHILADELPHIA (Gray News) – A home invasion in Philadelphia left a 25-year-old man dead and his mother paralyzed after they were shot multiple times.
On Dec 8, a home invasion in a Philadelphia suburb turned fatal after a suspect broke into the home around 2:20 a.m., according to Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.
Andrew Gaudio, and his mother, 61-year-old Bernadette Gaudio, were both shot.
Authorities believe Andrew fought back and tried to help his mom, however, he died from his injuries.
After being shot, Bernadette managed to call 911 using Siri, Steele said. She was taken to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.
As of now, 41-year-old Charles Fulforth was charged with second-degree murder, robbery, burglary and related charges in connection with the deadly home invasion
Police are still searching for 42-year-old Kelvin Roberts who has been charged with second-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy.
He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
It’s not clear why the Gaudio home was targeted, but a jewelry box was taken and found in one of the suspect’s homes.
Authorities said a $5,000 reward is available for information leading to Roberts’ arrest.
A GoFundMe page was created for the family during this difficult time.
So far, they have raised over $220,000.
