A Scots dad scared off a masked gang who broke into the family home as his two children slept upstairs.
Midlothian dad Mark Mackenzie made his way downstairs before the three individuals heard him coming and were ‘half way down the street’ by the time he got down on Tuesday, December 10. His two children, aged two and five, were asleep upstairs during what was the second break-in that the family has had this year.
In July, thieves broke into Mark’s Gorebridge home and stole his e-bike, which was never recovered. He feels it is the same group of individuals who have returned this time.
Mark told Edinburgh Live: “We were broken into six months ago. We are sure its the same thieves. The last time they stole my e-bike, it was never recovered. Luckily, I heard them this time and ran downstairs. They must’ve heard me and half way down the street.”
In October, a family home in Corstorphine was broken into overnight by a gang of thieves while a family slept upstairs. The incident happened on Stuart Green at around 1.30am on October 4. The homeowners discovered they had been raided after waking up in the morning. A black BMW SUV was taken from the property, with two children asleep upstairs.
Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
