FULSHEAR, Texas. (KWTX/Gray News) – A father in Texas is accused of intentionally setting his home on fire with his three children inside, according to authorities.

The fire was reported on Nov. 6 in the Polo Ranch Community of Fulshear, Texas, KWTX reported.

Two of the children managed to escape the fire with minor injuries but a 3-year-old remained trapped inside.

Officers on the scene heard faint sounds from inside the home and rescued the child, who suffered from severe smoke inhalation.

The 3-year-old child was airlifted to a hospital to receive treatment and has since been released.

Police said 46-year-old Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar was charged with three counts of attempted murder.

Pulgar had an extended stay in a hospital due to his injuries from the incident and was released on Dec. 12.

He is being held on bonds totaling $2.25 million.
