NHS Lanarkshire’s dedicated maternity team is spreading festive joy with their latest heart-warming Christmas song, “Freezy the Snow Queen”.
Joining the team in this special performance was singer and broadcaster Michelle McManus.
The song is set to the tune of the festive classic “Frosty the Snowman.” However, the song is more than just a dose of seasonal cheer.
Its message is clear and reassuring – NHS Lanarkshire’s maternity team is always here for expectant parents, every single day of the year, including Christmas Day.
The lyrics for “Freezy the Snow Queen” were written by midwife Judith Smalls, who shared her inspiration.
She said: “As with our previous Christmas songs, we wanted to create something fun and uplifting to remind parents-to-be that, no matter the season, we are always by their side.
“We were also thrilled that Michelle McManus accepted our approach to sing with us this year. Michelle’s support made the experience even more special. We are all very grateful to Michelle for making the time to join us.”
Michelle McManus also shared her personal connection with the NHS and maternity services in particular.
She said: “I was absolutely delighted to join NHS Lanarkshire’s maternity team for this wonderful song.
“The midwives and staff at the NHS hold a special place in my heart – they were incredible when they helped deliver my two children.
“This is my chance to show my immense gratitude and appreciation for all the NHS staff who work tirelessly to care for us all year round and especially so during the winter months.”
The video for “Freezy the Snow Queen” is available now on NHS Lanarkshire’s website and social media channels, showcasing the team’s festive spirit and unity.
Viewers can expect plenty of smiles, laughter and festive magic. The video also features children who were born in the maternity unit at University Hospital Wishaw.
Cheryl Clark, NHS Lanarkshire Director of Midwifery, added: “Our maternity team hopes the song not only spreads festive cheer but also reassures expectant parents that they will always receive compassionate and professional care, no matter the time of year.
“We are committed to supporting families throughout the year, and this song is a light-hearted way to share that message.”
