Aberdeen winger Vicente Besuijen faces an anxious wait to see if his season is going to be over.
Manager Jimmy Thelin and the Dons medical team are waiting for a specialist to review his scan results. Besuijen hurt his knee in a challenge late on in the draw against St Johnstone. The 23-year-old, who has netted twice this season, went off and needed intense treatment before he returned to play on, although was clearly feeling the ill effects. He had to wait for the swelling to subside before he could get his knee scanned.
The Dutch winger has had something of a resurgence under Thelin and his injury is a setback. The door had looked to be opened for Besuijen after previous loan spells at Emmen and Excelsior Rotterdam. Aberdeen defender Jack Milne is also struggling with an ankle injury. The Dons are also awaiting scan results on the versatile defender’s problem.
If Milne is out for any length of time then it is likely to see him move for another right-back to provide competition for Scotland cap Nicky Devlin. Aberdeen already have top scorer Pape Habib Gueye out but he is expected to return next month.
