BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – Two area school systems will receive a total of almost $15 million in state funding for facility improvements.
Members of the state School Building Authority made the decision today on needs submitted by schools around the state, awarding a total of $65 million.
Greenbrier County will receive $14 million for additions and renovations at White Sulphur Springs Elementary School and Monroe County will get $4.5 million for additions and renovations at James Monroe High School Technical Center.
Gov. Jim Justice made the announcement, saying the projects are chosen based on need and include helping with the construction of four new schools in the state in Putnam, Kanawha, Monongalia and Berkeley counties.
Justice said the investments are more than just classrooms and buildings because they give students the resources they need to thrive.
