Residents and staff at Douglas View had a special visitor as they welcomed their local MP to the Hamilton care home.
Hamilton & Clyde Valley representative Imogen Walker paid a visit to the 100-bed nursing and dementia home and saw its range of facilities including a cinema, hair salon, pub, cafe, lounge, sensory room and gardens.
She spent time speaking to members of the home community – and even joined in with the celebrations as resident James Gourley celebrated his 90th birthday.
Ms Walker heard from staff how the home on William Street near the town centre is “an integral part of the local Hamilton community”.
Douglas View manager Charlene Curtis said: “We were delighted to welcome Imogen Walker MP to our home – everyone had a great time, chatting to her about what life is like, and discussing key issues they care about and what actions can be taken to overcome them.”
The home is one of 50 operated by HC-One Scotland, along with Highgate in Uddingston, Hatton Lea in Bellshill and Kirknowe in Wishaw.
Ms Walker became Hamilton’s new MP at the general election in July, and also serves as a parliamentary private secretary to Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
She was the second special guest to visit Douglas View in quick succession, following a recent visit from Paralympic champion Steph McGuire, who visited to share his gold-medal winning success with residents.
