A broken down bus caused long tailbacks south of Perth’s Friarton Bridge on the A90 this morning.

Traffic Scotland announced at 9am on social media that the breakdown had occurred at the Glencarse roadworks

The vehicle was partially blocking the northbound carriageway in the roadworks.

Traffic Scotland said the breakdown caused tailbacks onto the Friarton Bridge with travel time estimated at “approximately twenty minutes.”

A Dundee-bound passenger posted on social media around 9.30am that he had been stuck on a stationary bus for half a hour.

And a motorist travelling towards Perth told the PA: “The traffic looked like it had been there a while. It was stationary from St Madoes all the way south of the Friarton Bridge from what I could see.

“There were drivers on their phones looking exasperated.

“Two roads workmen were staring at the bus, while the driver and another guy were hopelessly looking at the engine.”

Traffic Scotland had said on social media that recovery had been arranged.
