The private day nursery located within Hamilton’s football stadium has been sold by its founders to new owners after two decades.
Nursery Times at the Park, based inside the main stand at New Douglas Park, has now been purchased by nursery group Bright Stars and becomes the UK-wide group’s first premises in Lanarkshire.
It was opened in 2004 by Peter and Miriam Cannon and fellow director Anne Cannon, and has now changed hands along with sister site Nursery Times by the River in Clydebank – with the two settings catering for up to 178 children aged six weeks to five years.
Miriam said: “We are delighted to have completed the sale of the nurseries to Bright Stars – we are very confident they will continue to offer the excellent level of service our families have enjoyed over the years and that they will uphold and protect the legacy we have created and leave behind.”
Bright Stars chairman Stephen Booty said the group is “thrilled” by the acquisition of the “two exceptional nurseries” and said: “These settings have long been recognised for their outstanding commitment to early childhood education and care, thanks to the unwavering dedication of Miriam and Anne, who have built a nurturing environment over the years.
“We are committed to upholding their legacy; our mission is to provide high-quality childcare and we are excited to continue the tradition of excellence these settings have established, ensuring that families in the community receive the same level of care and support they have come to trust.”
Business property adviser Christie & Co announced the sales of the two nurseries “for an undisclosed price”.
Senior director Martin Daw said: “Having known Miriam and Anne for many years, it was a real honour when they asked me to run the confidential sale process for them; and it was clear we needed to marry the quality of the business with a buyer who demonstrated similar values.
“I wish both well in the next chapter of their lives and am confident that Bright Stars will continue to build on the excellent level of service they leave behind.”
