Hard-working volunteers are pulling out all of the stops to ensure older people across Stirling have all the food they need this Christmas.
And, while Santa’s packing his sleigh ready for his epic deliveries, the team at Food Train are delivering vans full of groceries so that its members do not go without this festive season.
The charity’s volunteers in Stirling are making deliveries to about 100 older people every week.
And, while it’s work that’s appreciated year-round, it’s a mission that comes with special significance as its members stock up for the festive season – and enjoy a little cheer as their shopping is dropped off.
In among their busy to-do list, volunteers donned their Christmas jumpers and gathered in Food Train’s offices at Stirling Enterprise Park, for a seasonal get-together.
Development officer Cameron Cowan said: “No-one likes to think of anyone going without, especially at Christmas, and our volunteers are doing a terrific job to help make sure our members have all that they need.
“Food Train would be nothing without our volunteers. We can’t thank them enough for all that they do. Not all heroes wear capes and these guys are just phenomenal.
“The impact they have cannot be underestimated. Not just collecting and delivering food, but the company that they give older people as they take their shopping lists and drop everything off. That makes such a difference in tackling loneliness, especially at this time of year.
“The services we provide help people to live independently in their own homes for longer.”
Following public sector spending reductions, Food Train’s service across Stirling is now partly funded by its members.
