Four people are in hospital after a double-decker bus crashed into a railway bridge in Kilmarnock.

Emergency services raced to the horror collision on the East Ayrshire town’s Culzean Crescent after receiving the alarm at 1.55pm on Thursday. Paramedics attended and four people were found injured.

They have been rushed to University Hospital Crosshouse, where their current conditions are unknown. Police remain at the scene.

Images from the wreckage show the roof completely ripped off the vehicle. Footage shared on social media shows people standing on top of the roofless Stagecoach which appears to be route 6.

Another clip showed people being ushered off of the bus. It is understood there were more than two dozen passengers onboard at the time.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 13:55 to attend an incident on Culzean Crescent, Kilmarnock. One ambulance and three special operations response teams (SORT) were dispatched to the scene and four patients were transported to University Hospital Crosshouse.”
