STARZ Christmas in Wonderland show prepares for opening night

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – Performers from the STARZ Performing Arts Academy are prepare for opening night of this year’s Christmas in Wonderland show at the Granada Theatre.

Local toddlers and teens will be performing selections from the “Nutcracker Land of the Sweets” and musical theater performances from “Wonka.”

Gabrielle Massie, the owner and artistic director of the STARZ Performing Arts Academy, says all the dancers from STARZ Ballet Academy and Tutu Academy have been learning and rehearsing for opening night since June.

“We’re really excited to showcase our new show every single year,” said Massie. “I think that it’s wonderful to have traditions like doing something like the Nutcracker every year but having a brand-new show that you know nobody’s seen yet with new costumes and new concepts and new songs, it’s always just so exciting.”

The first performance will be this Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. and the second performance will be Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Granada Theatre located on Commerce Street in downtown Bluefield, West Virginia.
