EastEnders star Kellie Bright swore in shock and called for help as she tried to avoid a fabric disaster on The Great British Sewing Bee.

The soap actress appeared alongside Steps star Ian “H” Watkins, comedian Fatiha El-Ghorri and reality TV star Charlotte Crosby on Celebrity Christmas Special of The Great British Sewing Bee on Thursday evening (December 19).

In the first task, judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young asked the celebrities to create an advent calendar with a festive ornament in the middle.

Kellie Bright opted to create an advent calendar with a festive Robin alongside the initials of her children and her grandmother, Joy.

“It’s a very family, festive piece, this”, the EastEnders actress remarked as she started to iron on letters. But as she raised the hot iron, she noticed only the J was imprinted onto the fabric, with the letter O falling off and letter Y stuck on her iron.

Kellie Bright laughed and swore as she touched the scorching hot iron and yelled “Help me, help help”. Steps star Ian “H” Watkins looked on with surprise and laughter.

Kellie added: “It’s stuck, Kellie. Silly wally.”

The incident didn’t ruin her advent calendar and left Patrick and Esme impressed with the stitch work, even patterns and pockets and decorations.

Patrick said: “Kellie – the robin on this green holly leaf just leaks out. It’s almost like a soft of explosion in a way. It’s a bit sort of Batman kapow”.

But as Esme inspected Kellie’s work, she discovered a tiny hole in the fabric. Esme added: “I love how this is your family but oh look – a hole”.

Patrick interjected: “This is what she does – she puts her little finger in. I think she actually creates them.”

Esme quipped: “I don’t make holes, I discover them”.

Patrick commented the calendar was “a thing of festive joy apart from the tiny hole” and the calendar finished second overall. Kellie went on to win the Christmas special with a Last Christmas inspired dress.

The Great British Sewing Bee is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
