DALLAS — Jerry Jones said it best: The Dallas Cowboys are “a soap opera 365 days a year.”

That was straight from the owner’s mouth in the trailer of the new Cowboys documentary on Netflix. America’s Team: The Gambler and his Cowboys will debut sometime in 2025 — an exact date hasn’t been announced yet — and Netflix dropped the first trailer on Thursday morning.

Netflix is touting the documentary as “the definitive story of Jerry Jones, his Dallas Cowboys, and the twists and turns on the road to becoming the most valuable sports franchise in the world.”

“This is our story,” Jones said in the clip, which also featured interviews with former President George W. Bush, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders, among others.

Here’s a look:

Netflix announced the documentary project earlier this year.

Netflix is partnering with Skydance Sports and NFL Films, in association with Stardust Frames Productions, to produce the 10-episode series. The documentary is a partnership with the Jones family, tracing Jones’ “rise from the son of an Arkansas community store owner to being one of the most innovative and influential leaders in sports.”

Jones bought the Cowboys in 1989 as the team was coming off a 13-loss season and was losing in excess of $1 million a month. Since then, the Cowboys have won three Super Bowl titles and has long been at the top of Forbes’ list of the most valuable sports franchises.

But Jones, at the same time, has been the bane of Cowboys’ fans existence over the last three decades, as the team continually underperforms in the playoffs. The Cowboys haven’t reached a conference championship game since their last Super Bowl appearance in the 1990s.
