Iqraam Rayners is the subject of a Rangers transfer enquiry, according to a report.
The South African frontman caught the eye of the Ibrox club last season while starring for Stellenbosch FC last season, where he hit 17 goals in 39 appearances. But since moving to Mamelodi Sundowns, it’s claimed the Light Blues have increased their interest after watching Rayners net 12 times in just 16 games so far this term.
Now South African outlet snl24 report that Rangers have made contact over the possibility of singings Rayners. They credit local sources, who claim that a concrete offer is yet to be submitted, but the Glasgow club have tested the waters with Sundowns as to Rayners availability and what it might take to land him: “There has been an inquiry about Iqraam (Rayners) from Rang I don’t think there has been an offer from them at this stage. V they have shown interest and they continue monitoring him,” said one source.
“It’s not for the first time. I know that there was interest in him from the same club before he joined Sundowns but I believe they were a bit slow and that’s why he ended up signing for Sundowns but now they are back on for his services. They are monitoring him again,” said another.”
Philippe Clement ‘s search for a striker could be bad news for Cyriel Dessers. The Nigerian has falled to third choice in the pecking order behind Hamza Igamane and Danilo and a January exit has been mooted. However, that could well depend on Clement bringing a new face in first.
