Helen Skelton is taking time off from BBC’s Morning Live, as she revealed in a heartfelt Instagram post offering thanks to her co-stars. Helen, who regularly presents the show with Gethin Jones and Michelle Ackerley, won’t be returning on screen until the new year after her last appearance before the festive break.
Morning Live will pause its broadcasts for the Christmas holidays following the episode on Friday, December 20, which will see Gethin hosting alongsise Gavin & Stacey actress Joanna Page. With her final programme of the year already behind her, Helen turned to Instagram with a nostalgic look back, expressing gratitude to the team.
Her Instagram post featured a collection of personal snapshots and clips captioned: “Lewks and lols of the last couple of weeks at work. Over and out 2024.”
She made sure to mention her makeup and fashion crew among others in her tags.
Helen continued: “To work with ladies and gents who want to do a good job and know you need to get out on time for the kids carol concert is the ultimate pay day. Crazy proud of the content my colleagues are making. We hope it helps you in any small way. Taking nothing for granted. Here’s to loading up the cheese board and putting home alone on repeat,” reports Wales Online.
She added: “Looking forward to having you back in 2025 @gethincjones @bbcmorninglive.”
The announcement follows Thursday’s show hosted by guest presenters Kym Marsh and Gordon Smart, where Kym humorously commented about Gethin when he joined the show via video link.
Gethin has been absent from his hosting duties while starring as Prince Charming in a pantomime at Cardiff’s New Theatre. He appeared in a pre-recorded video to answer a viewer’s question about Christmas traditions.
Gethin introduced himself by saying, “Hi Paul, Prince Charming here.”
Kym Marsh couldn’t resist teasing him about his introduction, exclaiming, “Wow, did he just actually refer to himself as Prince Charming? Someone pass me a bucket!”
The studio erupted into laughter, and Kym joked that someone should poke fun at Gethin when he returns to the show the next day.
Morning Live is on BBC One weekdays at 9.30am and on BBC iPlayer
