The final Rosefield Mills Dumfries Market of 2024 has been cancelled after a weather warning was issued for high winds.

The decision to call off Saturday’s event has been made with a ‘very heavy heart’.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning from Saturday morning through to Sunday evening, with gusts of 70 miles per hour possible in some parts of Dumfries and Galloway.

And that has resulted in Rosefield Mills having to pull the plug on the popular weekly event in the High Street to ensure both traders and customers are safe.

A Facebook post read: “It is with a very heavy heart we have had to cancel this weekend’s Dumfries Market due to high winds forecast.

“On behalf of all the traders we would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and thank you for your support through the year. We are having a well deserved break and will be back on January 11, 2025.”

Organisers added that traders will be in touch with customers to arrange collections of any orders.
