Philippe Clement has told Rangers fans there’s no need to be worried about Jack Butland.
The Ibrox no 1 was hastily withdrawn from the squad after the warm up before today’s Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee. The keeper was initially named in the starting XI, but there was a rare start for Liam Kelly as a quick fire change was made between the sticks, leaving fans fearing for the Englishman’s fitness.
Kelly kept a clean sheet, which meant Vaclav Cerny’s strike was enough to keep all three points in Govan. And Clement moved to reassure punters who may have been worried that their first choice was set for a spell on the sidelines, although stopped short of revealing why he was missing. Butland will be back in the side for the Light Blues’ Boxing Day trip to St Mirren, however, and more importantly for the derby date against Celtic on January 2.
“People don’t need to worry about Jack,” the Belgian told BBc Scotland. “It was for personal reasons. and really short term so Jack will be back for the next game. He probably doesn’t want me to tell what it was about.”
