Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood was left utterly gobsmacked after a faux pas while critiquing Anton Du Beke’s routine.
BBC viewers were treated to a nostalgic journey this evening with ‘Strictly Come Dancing: 20 Fabulous Years’, commemorating the show’s two-decade milestone.
Hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the special programme featured a mix of professional dancers, celebrities, and judges, both past and present, sharing their cherished memories and experiences from the show.
Amongst numerous throwback clips from over the years, one memorable moment from five years ago caught everyone’s attention. It involved EastEnders’ Emma Barton and Anton Du Beke performing an Austin Powers-inspired salsa.
When it was time for Craig Revel Horwood to deliver his verdict, he inadvertently committed a social blunder.
In the footage, Craig is seen telling Anton: “I slightly was distracted with the wig I have to say and the fake teeth that you have in.”
Fast forward to today, with Claudia and Tess, Craig is still taken aback by the memory as Tess recalls: “Oh my goodness, that was such a moment.”
Craig humorously referred to the mishap as “teeth gate”, sharing a laugh with Anton who couldn’t believe Craig thought his teeth were fake.
The scene cuts back to the original clip, showing a younger Craig, visibly surprised, querying his fellow judges: “They’re not fake? “.
Shirley Ballas remarked: “They’re not fake teeth, they’re his own teeth”, while Bruno Tonioli chimed in emphatically with: “They’re his real teeth! “.
Emma, Anton’s partner, uttered: “Slightly embarrassing”, and a surprised Craig confessed: “I’m sorry Anton”.
Reflecting on the footage, Anton observed: “That is literally the first time I’d ever seen you speechless.”
Tess admitted, recounting her experience: “I had never laughed that hard on live television”, before Craig took the opportunity to address his fellow judge.
Craig made his intentions clear, saying: “Well I can only apologise. I’m giving my sincere apologies so that everyone knows at home -“.
Not missing a beat, Anton jumped in with a lighthearted jibe: “That you have softened. You have changed.”
Unfazed, Craig pressed on: “That I’m very sorry”, as laughter ensued between them over the memorable incident.
