The victim of a slashing at M&D’s theme park is to get £1,000 compensation from his attacker.
Connor Orr struck the victim twice with a piece of glass after a row over a spilled drink.
Orr, 32, of Conan Court, Cambuslang, must also do 300 hours of unpaid community work and attend addiction services as part of an 18-month supervision order.
He admitted assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement at the Strathclyde Park entertainment venue on March 17 last year.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard the victim and friends were playing pool when trouble broke out with a party that included Orr.
Scott O’Connor, prosecuting, said: “One of the victim’s friends dropped a drink, causing the other males to become angry.
“Both groups were involved in a large altercation. Security staff had to intervene and ask the accused’s group to leave.
“The complainer and his friends left shortly before 10pm and were standing at the exit.
“Orr ran towards them and the victim saw he had something in his hand. He was struck twice on the head.”
The victim was taken to hospital where a wound behind his ear was closed with nine stitches.
Defence lawyer Chris Devine said warehouse worker Orr has not been in trouble since the assault and is “a genuine first offender”.
