A Porsche driver was killed after a horror smash on a Scots motorway which left two other people in hospital.
The 65-year-old man died at the scene at Junction 2 of the M74 around 6pm on Sunday near Rutherglen. His Porsche Boxter collided with several vehicles before he ploughed into the central reservation.
Emergency crews raced to the scene but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene. A 45-year-old female driver of a Nissan Leaf car and 42-year-old female driver of a BMW 2 series car were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
The major route was shut down by cops overnight as they launched a probe into the crash. The road reopened in the early hours of Monday at 4.30am.
Aerial drone footage taken of the scene shows the wreckage following the crash. Debris can be seen spilled across several lanes of the motorway. Black tyre marks can also be seen across the road as two damaged cars are spotted yards apart.
Road traffic police units are also seen at the scene as investigators comb over the site. Police have launched an appeal to any drivers who may have witnessed the crash.
Sergeant Adnan Alam at the Road Policing, Helen Street, Govan said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this difficult time. We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash and has not already spoken to police.
“We would also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam footage to please check this as they may have captured the crash or just prior to it taking place.”
“Anyone with information or dashcam footage should contact police via 101 quoting incident number 2609 of 22 December 2024.”
