A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Jamie Lucas in Airdrie.

The 33-year-old was found injured in the North Lanarkshire town’s Stirling Street at 4.45am on Sunday. Medics rushed him to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but sadly he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have since arrested and charged a 21-year-old man in connection. He is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Campbell said: “My thoughts remain with Jamie’s family and friends. We continue to offer them support at this very difficult time.

“I’d like to thank members of the local community for their support during our investigations. Anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police is asked to come forward.
