Hygiene inspectors are investigating an infestation of mice at Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground.
On the pitch it’s been a season to forget for the Red Devils, who currently sit 13th in the Premier League table and sacked boss Erik ten Hag in October – with new gaffer Ruben Amorim enduring a mixed start to life in the Old Trafford hot seat, with his side embarrassed 3-0 at home against Bournemouth on December 22. However off the park things have taken un unexpected turn, with the club receiving a two star hygiene report from inspectors.
The Daily Mail reports that the Salford ground has seen it’s hygiene rating dropped to two stars, well short of the maximum of five, after inspectors discovered droppings during a recent visit. The club are now working with pest control to try and get it;s rodent problem under control, as well as Manchester City Council.

The droppings were reportedly found in some of the second level hospitality suites as well as food kiosks. And it seems the ground’s location is the main reason why the mice have moved.
Old Trafford is located between one of the city’s many canals and a railway line, making it a handy place of shelter for mice who frequent the banks of the canal and the edges of the rail track.
This isn’t the first time the issue has reared it’s head. Nine years ago, united needed to call in pest control to deal with nice in the North and South Stands, as well as club offices.
