If you’ve ever made last-minute plans to have someone stay the night after a boozy session at the pub, or you’ve got some plus ones arriving for Christmas whom you were less than expecting, having a quick-inflating air bed is an absolute godsend. Right now, you can nab one at a fantastic price: the Airefina King Inflatable Air Mattress for just £69.99, down from £109.99 at Amazon (price correct at time of writing).

This king-sized air bed inflates and deflates in around three minutes, with an integrated pump that won’t get lost somewhere at the back of a cupboard. Its 40 internal air coils and high-strength structure provide fantastic durability and support, taking up to 317kg at once.

Whilst deflated it weighs just 8.2kg and folds down to 44x23x34, making it a great camping companion if you’ve got a tent that’s big enough to take it. The bottom is anti-slip so it should stay steady on hardwood flooring too.

It’s got a very good reputation at Amazon, with 4.2 out of 5 stars averaged from 3,572 reviews so far. “I bought these for Christmas when all the family will be here,” began one five-star review. “My grandchildren will use them. They tested them by staying over and said they were just as comfy as their own beds. Inflating and deflating is as easy as pie. I consider them good value for money. Very very pleased.”

“This might be the best purchase I’ve ever made on Amazon,” raved another five-star appraisal. “The quality-price ratio is excellent, we use it fairly regularly for guests and it’s quick and easy to inflate, deflate and store. It is so comfortable that I’ve found myself wishing I’d given up my own bed for my guests!”

Another added: “Love the air bed, use it regularly for weekends away visiting family and whilst waiting for my bed to be delivered when redecorating bedrooms. It’s a a good size, elevated off the floor which is my preference as I find lower beds are cold.”

Some were less impressed, unfortunately. “The bed is almost perfect if it had an alternative way to inflate it would be perfect, I’m unfortunately returning as I can’t guarantee when we go camping that we will have electric hook up,” noted one reviewer. Another agreed: “If it’s recommended for camping then I should be [able] to pump it up without electricity so it’s not suitable for camping.”

If you’re keen to see alternatives, or you just need a smaller one at a great discount, this Alivio air bed at Debenhams starts from just £36.99 for the single. There’s also this one at Dunelm for £20, although it isn’t self-inflating.

At just £69.99, the heavy-duty Airefina Inflatable Air Mattress is a great pick.
