HOUSTON (Gray News) – A Texas woman is facing charges after she allegedly locked a 7-year-old relative in a dog cage as punishment for her “behavior at school.”
Rose Marie Anderson, 55, is charged with injury to a child and unlawful restraint. She posted bond Monday, according to KTRK.
Anderson is accused of locking a 7-year-old relative in a dog cage on or around Dec. 13. She allegedly zip-tied the girl and taped her mouth shut before leaving her alone for several hours, KHOU reports.
Court documents allege that Anderson kicked the girl while she was in the cage, and when the girl was left alone, she “urinated on herself as she had no access to a bathroom.”
Anderson’s motive for the alleged crime was to punish the girl for her “behavior at school,” court documents say.
A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services says the victim is now safe in foster care. Child Protective Services is investigating the abuse allegations.
Anderson’s arrest was the result of an electronic tip, according to KTRK. She is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 6.
