RICHLANDS, Va. – Richlands, Va. Town Manager Jason May notified Town Council Members on Tuesday of his plan to formally resign from the position. In a letter addressed to Council Members, May provided the town with 45 days notice of his resignation. He intends to serve his last day as Town Manager on Jan. 31, 2025.
In the letter, May goes on to tell Members that he intends to do all he can to ensure a smooth transition for his successor, and thanked Richlands’ residents for the opportunity to serve as their Town Manager.
The full letter reads as follows:
Dear Members of Town Council:
Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am resigning from my position as Town Manager for the Town of Richlands, Virginia. In accordance with my employment agreement, I am providing 45 days’ notice, with my last day of employment being January 31, 2025.
During my time with the Town of Richlands, I have appreciated the opportunity to serve this community and work alongside our dedicated staff. I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will work diligently over the next 45 days to complete ongoing projects and prepare comprehensive documentation of all current initiatives.
I will assist in whatever way I can during this transition period to train my replacement should one be identified before my departure. Additionally, I will ensure all files are organized and up-to-date, and will prepare detailed status reports on all ongoing projects.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Town Manager. I wish the Town of Richlands continued success in the future.
