Morrisons customers have been left disgruntled after the retailer faced issues that led to festive order delays and delivery mishaps. Citing ‘systems issues’ as the culprit for the troubles, shoppers continued to report problems on Christmas Eve.

In light of this, Morrisons offered a 10% discount to More Card holders on their shopping as compensation, but many shoppers have said this was not applied to their local branch. According to the Express, several individuals have contacted the chain over X, formerly Twitter, to claim they hadn’t received a discount.

One shopper claimed they bought some items at the Liverpool Belle Vale store and when they realised they hadn’t got the discount, they were ‘told by staff that there was nothing they could do’. Another shopper noted getting the discount but failed to earn points on an over-£220 haul.

Reacting to the complaints, Morrisons prompted the dissatisfied customers to direct message their email and More Card number for further assistance. However, missing items in orders left some families struggling to find the necessaries for their Christmas dinner.

One person reportedly said: “You let me down massively yesterday [December 23] by telling me five mins before my collection time that my pre-ordered food order wouldn’t have a turkey, potatoes and few other things. Had to run around seeing what I could get from other shops.”

Another fumed: “We just went to collect (click and collect) our turkey – ordered weeks ago and it’s not available: got substituted with a chicken. Absolutely rubbish – did our big shop yesterday wanted to use all the vouchers we’d saved and couldn’t – not shopping with you again.”

Someone else also wrote: “Dreadful service for Christmas order today. Had to buy a free range replacement turkey, parsnips, mozzarella sticks and prawns as you did not have my order available. Have used this service for many years but won’t be using Morrisons again.”

In a statement yesterday, Morrisons said: “Today the Morrisons store experience is back to normal, but all More Card customers will still get 10 percent off their whole shop instore throughout the day. Click and Collect and Home Deliveries are working as normal. We are determined not to let a single customer down this Christmas.”

Anyone who did not get their 10% discount can also go to the store with their receipt to have it applied.
