VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (Gray News) – A 16-year-old actor who appeared in the film “Baby Driver” died after falling from a moving vehicle.

Hudson Meek was injured after falling “to the roadway from a motor vehicle in motion” on Dec. 19 in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

He sustained blunt-force trauma and was taken to the hospital, where he died two days later.

Vestavia Hills police are continuing to investigate what led to Meek’s death, according to WBRC.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” a post on his Instagram account reads. “His 16 years on earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

Meek made his on-screen debut in 2014, appearing in the film “The Santa Con.” He has appeared in several shows such as NBC’s “Found,” CBS’s “MacGyver” and The CW’s “Legacies,” according to his IMDB page.

Most notably, Meek appeared as a young version of Ansel Elgort’s character Baby in the 2017 film “Baby Driver.”

“Hudson was like a match that lit a fire everywhere he went – in class, in the audition room, on set…wherever he was,” his acting coach Meg Deusner said in a statement to WBRC. “He was by far one of the most talented actors I have ever worked with.”

Meek also had several voicing credits, including as the lead in the children’s animated show “Badanamu Stories.”

“He had the best sense of humor. He was unbelievably charismatic. He was kind. He was strong in his faith,” Deusner said. “He was a star in every sense of the word. And he will forever be missed.”

Meek was a member of the Acting Out Academy and attended Vestavia Hills High School.

Along with his extensive acting career, Meek played football for his high school team and became a certified open water scuba diver at the age of 13.

According to his obituary, Meek also enjoyed attending Bible study meetings and was an active member of his church.

Meek’s family will hold a celebration of life for him on Dec. 28, according to his obituary. A live stream of the ceremony will be shared on Meek’s Instagram account.
