Six Lanarkshire kebab shops have made the cut for the semi-finals of the British Kebab Awards.

Glasgow was ranked ninth in the top 10 UK locations for semi-finalists with 11 nominations.

Making the shortlist in Lanarkshire were: Asian Tandoori, Cambuslang; Grillzz – German Döner & Peri Peri, Wishaw; Polski Kebab, Motherwell; Real Spice, Cumbernauld, Mr Chef, Main Street, Uddingston and Spices, Bellshill.

In contention in Glasgow city are: BABS, West Nile Street; Grillzz- German Döner & Peri Peri, Dalmarnock Road; Hajar’s Shawarma, Sauchiehall Street; King Roj Shawarma, Argyle Street, Finnieston; Shawarma King, King Street and Shawarma King, Dundas Street.

The awards ceremony honours Britain’s best kebab chefs, restaurants and takeaways, with the winners being unveiled on February 26, 2025 at a glittering ceremony at the prestigious Park Plaza Westminster Hotel in London.

Kebab fans can vote for their favourite restaurants in the following national categories: Best Delivery, Best Greek Restaurant and/or Takeaway, Best Kosher Shawarma Restaurant and/or Takeaway, Best Lebanese Restaurant and/or Takeaway, Best Value Restaurant, Best Vegan Kebab (Restaurant or Takeaway), Chef of the Year, Customer Satisfaction, Fine Dining Restaurant, Kebab Van of the Year, Supplier and Manufacturer Award.

There are also several regional categories, including: Best Kebab House in Scotland and Best Kebab Restaurant Regional.
