A masked duo have been caught on CCTV targetting a quiet Scot street as police investigate a number of break-ins.
Residents in Tranent were left shocked after a masked duo were spotted outside homes on the usually tranquil Moffat Walk and Fa’side View. Police are now investigating a break-in, two attempted break-ins, and a vehicle theft in the area.
The stolen vehicle has since been recovered, but the incidents have left families on edge.
One resident, Paddy, shared CCTV footage with Edinburgh Live, capturing the suspects outside. “You couldn’t see them properly as they were all masked up,” he said.
Paddy added: “The police came out later, and I spoke with them. Three cars have already been reported stolen in my area, and this was at around 4:30 a.m. There’ll probably be more reports as people wake up. They tried my neighbour’s house but didn’t get in.”
Police inquiries into the incidents are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Monday, 30 December, 2024, officers received a report of a break-in on Fa’side View and two attempted break-ins on Moffat Walk and Fa’side View, Tranent. Enquiries are ongoing.”
