Meghan Markle once confessed that she makes the same New Year’s resolutions each year in an attempt to better her life, but admitted she finds it hard to stick to them, particularly after a “few drinks”.

The Duchess made this revelation on her blog, The Tig, in January 2016, just a few months before meeting Prince Harry.

She described some of her habits as “unladylike” and listed them: “Run a marathon. Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Re-learn French. These make my New Year’s resolution list nearly (AKA actually every) single year.

“The marathon hasn’t happened. The swearing comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple of drinks.”

Meghan also mentioned her struggle with French, a language she studied in high school but lost when she immersed herself in Spanish during her time in Buenos Aires, the Mirror reports.

Despite her annual attempts to relearn French for interviews, she admitted it hasn’t stuck. As for nail-biting, she confessed it still happens during turbulent flights or stressful days, calling it unladylike, just like swearing.

In an effort to avoid disappointment, Meghan chose not to set resolutions for that year. She explained: “For this new year, the only thing I aim to do is to approach life playfully. To laugh and enjoy, to keep my standards high but my level of self-acceptance higher. My New Year’s resolution is to leave room for magic. To make my plans, and be okay if they sometimes break. To set my goals, but to be open to change.”

While it remains uncertain what 2025 holds for Meghan or her husband Prince Harry, next month they are slated to visit Canada for Harry’s Invictus Games, scheduled in Vancouver and Whistler.

Additionally, this year might witness the official launch of Meghan’s new venture, American Riviera Orchard. Meghan announced her brand last March with a website and Instagram page debut, receiving considerable attention.

Although she has shared her products with celebrity friends—who flaunted the American Riviera Orchard jam on social media in April—her goods have yet to hit the market.

As of October, there was news that her trademark application had been initially rejected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), giving her three months to address the “nonfinal officer action” or risk having her application abandoned.
